Movie producer and director Leila Djansi has said
that she regrets campaigning for the ruling party, National Democratic
Congress (NDC) in 2012.
According to the actress, the government has
exhibited gross incompetence as Ghanaians have been made to face all
manner of hardships.
“Good morning from John Mahama’s Ghana!! Multiple
days without water. Last week we had to call the company head to have
taps opened. I so regret campaigning for NDC although I have no vote in
Ghana. I lost friends, someone threatened to burn down my office in
Ghana cos I was NDC. After all the sacrifices made to campaign and have
faith in this party, Ghana has been faced with so much incompetence from
this team! Even not living in Ghana, you feel the hardship. But they
have money to give to a less qualified individual to brand buses,” portions of her Facebook post read.
It would be recalled that Leila in May 2015,
threatened to campaign against the NDC if President Mahama does not sack
Presidential Staffer, Alhaji Halidu Haruna for likening celebrities
above 30 years of age and still unmarried to “prostitutes” and
“irresponsible”.
She described Alhaji Halidu as a coward who is “rendered insecure by an independent woman.”
“That is a very irresponsible statement coming
from someone who is the face of the presidential bandwagon. That’s
something I expect to hear from a trotro driver or his mate. Not from a
government official. How callous! It parades a thorough lack of
education, lack of respect for his mother, unfortunately. Because if you
respect your mother, you will exercise some decorum, when you speak
about women. I am embarrassed for the NDC. No wonder JJ Rawlings and
Nana Konadu Rawlings, the best 1st lady, one who changed the face of
women in Ghana, want nothing with the party. I am sad really, because
Volta NDC was started in my house. I remember squeezing beside my father
when the party bigwigs meet at our home in Ho. Forthwith, the party has
been reduced to idle talkers and dining hall prefects…. If John Mahama
does not get rid of this man, I will be very disappointed in any woman
who votes for NDC. I will go from village to village in the Volta and
tell the women NDC executives say us women, are whores,” she said.
