Four Police officers have been arrested for allegedly stealing GHC50,000
from some Indians who were suspected be involved in some illegal
activities at Osu in Accra.
The officers were sent to arrest the Indians who were reportedly stashing huge sums of monies in sacks at a residence in Osu.
The officers are believed to have taken the monies from the suspects but
refused to account for it in full when the matter was reported to their
superiors, Accra-based Joy FM reported Monday.
The Indians, according to the wife of one of the officers, are business
partners of deputy local government minister Baba Jamal. Mr Jamal, she
claims , is involved in gold business with the Indians.
She alleging that the deputy minister is deliberately frustrating efforts to get them bailed for reasons yet unknown.
According to her, although the said money has been produced in full by
the embattled officers, the police administration has still refused to
grant them bail.
