New actress on the block, Sonia Ibrahim, beat fellow Ghanaian actresses,
Joselyn Dumas and Lydia Forson, to grab the Best Actress in Africa
award at the Nigeria Entertainment Award (NEA) held at the Skirball
Centre in New York last Saturday.
The event hosted by Tinsel star, Osas Ighodaro-Ajibade, and Nigerian
rap star, Ice Prince, brought together various entertainers from all
over Africa.
With only a few movies to her credit, Sonia, the younger sister of
actress and musician, Juliet Ibrahim, proved she was a force to reckon
with as she beat other competitors such as South Africa’s famous Therry
Pheto and Okwawa Shanzy.
Sonia received the award for her performance in the movie, Shattered
Romance produced by her famous sister, Juliet. The film also took home
the Best Movie in Africa award.
The up and coming actress is currently in New York, hoping to grab yet
another award for Best Supporting Actress at the Nollywood Film Critic
Awards (NAFCA) scheduled for September 12 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los
Angeles.
Shattered Romance will be premiered on October 16, 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.
