Kpando Hearts of Lions failed to stay in Ghana’s top flight league after
they lost 4-2 to New Edubiase on the final match day of the 2014/2015
season.
New Eduabiase had their destiny in their own hands and they made most
of it by beating Heart of Lions convincingly at the Clay Sports Stadium.
Nuhu Fuseni's goals from each half, a brace from Bernard Ofori in the
second half were enough to throw Heart Of Lions into the GN Division One
league.
Lions had the best of opportunities earlier on in the first half,
dictating play and pulling the best passing strings together, but that
could only last for a while as Eduabiase who looked unsettled stayed
resolute and won over with intrepid play.
Eduabiase through Nuhu Fuseni gave Lions their early scare with a
ferocious shot which was parried away by Mozart. Mozart became the
busiest player on the pitch then on, and Eduabiase kept pushing to give
Lions nothing to settle on.
Eduabiase were getting frustrated as their efforts were not yielding
any positive results, but on the 37th minute through Nuhu Fuseni who
made no mistake after a defensive blunder by Lions' defence.
Heart of Lions regrouped and attack with all their might, but could not
find the breakthrough required to save their season. Chances flew by as
the game wore on. There was nothing Lions could do to get the needed
equaliser before recess.
Lions flew out of the blocks in the second half to get the needed
equalizer. Eduabiase sat back to soak the pressure and pounce on the
break. The game plan paid dividends as Lions were caught on the break.
Bernard Ofori sent the spectators at the Obuasi stadium into ecstasy
with a beauty to cage Lions.
Lions had other ideas as they wouldn't give up easily. But their day
was undone by Samuel Yeboah who hit the 3rd nail on the Lions coffin.
Lions got a consolation through Mohammed Tanko.
The goal was a morale booster for Lions who poured many bodies forward,
but Eduabiase quickly extended their three-goal advantage when Bernard
Ofori netted his second of the afternoon and Eduabiase's fourth. The
game would go on as goals continue to flow like showers of rain; Osman
Muntaka grabbed Lions second of the afternoon, but it was not enough to
save Lions season.
