Gasmilla’s hit song “Telemo” has been re-recorded with lyrics into a
campaign song purportedly for NPP flag bearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo
Addo, raising questions about the musician's political leanings.
But Gasmilla, known in private life as Milla Joseph Odartey Lamptey has
told Adom News he has no idea who stole his tune and put NPP campaign
lyrics on it.
He said his management will take legal action against anyone who uses his tune for other purposes without his knowledge.
Adom News reached Gasmilla’s Manager, Esther Konadu Gyan and she
confirmed that no one has sought permission to use the song, and vowed
to take legal action against the perpetrator(s).
"If we find out the person is linked to any political party we will
seek the assistance of that party to get to the person and ensure he
faces the full rigours of the law,” she said.
Meanwhile, the National Organizer of the NPP, John Boadu says the party
has nothing to do with the conversion of Gasmilla’s “Telemo” into an
NPP campaign song.
“But if we decide to use Gasmilla’s song for the 2016 election we will
use the right channels and make a formal announcement,” he added.
