The Black Queens were able to hold onto a 15th minute strike by Samira Suleman to earn a place in the finals of the competition currently ongoing in Brazzaville, Congo.
Ghana who qualified to the semi finals through the stroke luck following their success with the drawing of lots against South Africa now awaits the winner of the other semi final game between Nigeria and Cameroon to know their opponent in the grand finale.
The win over Cote d’Ivoire was the team’s first in the competition having drawn their opening two games in the group stage.
Ghana played just two group games against Senegal and then South Africa due to the withdrawal of Egypt in the competition.
The Black Queens drew 1-1 with Cameroon having opened their campaign with a goalless draw game with South Africa.
Yusif Basigi’s side had to settle for the drawing of lots against Senegal – who they were tied on points and goal difference – to determine their fate in the competition.
Ghana emerged successful just over 24 hours before taking on Cote d’Ivoire for a place in the finals of the 2015 All Africa Games.
The Black Queens are now assured of coming away with at least a silver medal with the gold to play for against either Nigeria and Cameroon later Tuesday evening in Brazzaville in the finals to be played at the weekend.
